Inky Linky Party

Warning: This post is completely unrelated to educational things. It is summer vacation after all though!

Today I am linking up with Mr. B's Beach Brains linky party about teacher tattoos.  I am very excited about this linky party because I have always wondered about tattoos in the teaching field.  Growing up in a conservative environment, tattoos were frowned upon and the excuse was that it was "unprofessional". So it was quite the battle when I decided that I wanted one.  Even now, three years after getting it, my Grandpa still asks me what is on my arm and why I thought that it was a good idea.

Here is my beauty. I love it.  The first time I got it it was brown ink, but it got infected (which is a totally different story) and I had to get it re-done in black.  Why Hope? Well to get incredibly personal (I know I opened up this can of worms!) I struggled with hope for a long time.  I was a pessimist to the extreme and had little hope for success, happiness, or life.  One of my mentors used a phrase with me that changed my life.  She said "I am holding on to hope for you, until you are ready to have it back.  Once you have it you need to share it with everyone!"  Thus hope.  I placed it on my wrist so that I would always see it and be able to easily share it with others.  Again, I love it!

Do you have any tattoos? Link up with Mr. B.  Be sure to check out his rules first!!

  2. Brittany - Thanks for linking up! Your family is much like mine. My mom and brother are ok with it, but my grandparents are totally against it. I've had mine for almost a year now, and I still wonder if my grandparents figured it out yet. lol I'd like to get another one (maybe before the school year starts!).

    Thanks again!!
